Alex Breslav
Doctoral Student
Alex is a PhD student in Duke's Cognition & Cognitive Neuroscience program. He utilizes methods from decision sciences and reinforcement learning to investigate the cognitive mechanisms underlying eating behavior. More specifically, Alex researches the ways in which factors known to increase food consumption (energy density, portion size, variety) affect reward prediction and attenuation of predicted reward over the course of a task/meal.
Prior to coming to Duke for his PhD, Alex worked for two years with RTI International conducting health communications research. He graduated magna cum laude from Duke in 2014, with degrees in biology and psychology.
Check out Alex’s personal website, connect with him on LinkedIn, and track his research through Google Scholar.
